SPIRIT OF THE GREAT LAKES AWARDS - NOMINATIONS BEING ACCEPTED: The Spirit of the Great Lakes Award and Clerk of the Year Award are given to an outstanding exhibitor and clerk in the Region. We encourage every club to nominate someone for each award. John Hiemstra, head of the committee this year, will accept nominations until June 1, 2008. Nominations will be reviewed by the committee and the honorees will be recognized at the Regional Awards Banquet. This is your opportunity to recognize your fellow fanciers and co-workers for the Region. Nominations should be submitted using the form found HERE. SPIRIT OF THE GREAT LAKES REGION CLERKING AWARD:
Purpose: CRITERIA: Anyone who participates as a clerk in the CFA Clerking Program (with the exception of CFA judges) and who resides in Region 4 after February 1 is eligible. The clerking award is meant to recognize anyone who participates in the CFA clerking program and resides in Region 4. The ideal candidate is someone who performs the art of clerking in a proficient, low-profile manner. This person should be flexible and work well with all show personnel, while accommodating exhibitor requests and spectator questions. A positive attitude is a must! The following are previous winners of this award: John Hiemstra, Brenda Wood, Nancy Grandison, Ronna Colilla, Bethany Collila, Megan Hiemsta and Joe Lentner. FACILITATION: Nominations for the Spirit of the Great Lakes Region Clerking Award will be facilitated at the same time and in the same manner as the Spirit of the GLR Award. GLR clubs will discuss clerks who did an outstanding job, either at that club's show or at show's which club members attended and select one individual for nomination. The Committee will collect all nominations and determine the highest vote-getter. No clerk may win the award in two consecutive years. SPIRIT OF THE GREAT LAKES AWARD: Clubs are asked to nominate a person whom they feel has contributed to the region and CFA. While it is clear that the CFA judges are ambassadors for the organization, this award should be for non-judges. This is meant to recognize exhibitor/breeder for devoted service. The criteria for selection is:
1. long standing (10+years) affiliation with the region, Previous winners of theis award are: Wilma VanScoyck, Eve Russell, Linda Komar, Marianne Harris, Mariane Toth, Jerry Kithcart and Elizabeth Rymph. Nominations should be made by club secretaries after consultation with club members. DEADLINE: June 1, 2008
